Testing Services

Integrated approach to standardization can not be realized without adequate testing facilities. Realizing this fact, NBSM puts maximum emphasis on installation of various testing equipments in different fields. The laboratories at NBSM are equipped to provide testing services required for the development of national standards and quality assurance activities. NBSM provides testing facilities to public, semi government and private organizations as well as to individuals through different laboratories.

Technical Services

Any industry interested in implementing National Standards and receiving license to use NS mark in its products can avail technical services from NBSM to make the product and system capable of achieving and maintaining desired quality level.

1. Batch or Lot Certification Services

In those areas where product is not covered by NS certification scheme, NBSM provides lot certifications services on request as per the trading partner's terms and conditions.

2. Legal Metrology Services

Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology is an authorized agency to implement Standard Weights and Measures Act 2025 and Rules 2027. Nepalese community has been brought under the influence of these Act and Rules. Eight satellite offices stationed at Kathmandu, Birganj, Biratnagar, Butwal, Dhangadhi, Nepalganj, Pokhara and Janakpur are rendering services under this act to cover entire country in verification of weights and measures as well as weighing and measuring instruments, which are being used in the trade and industry .

3. Information Services

Technical information services are provided to industry, exporters, individuals and government agencies in response to their inquiries on standards.
To keep the users abreast with the latest development in Standardization, Quality control, Testing and Metrology activities of Bureau, bi-annual bulletin named "Gunastar Patrika" is being published by NBSM regularly and distributed freely.
Library service is provided to public and private organizations, industries as well as to individuals. The library is in possession of different international standards such as Indian Standards, British Standards, Japanese Standards, ISO, ASTM, Nepal Standards Reference books. Magazines, Bulletin and Catalogue etc. All of them are related to standardization, quality control and metrology.

4. Calibration Services

Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology takes responsibility for ensuring the establishment and proper functioning of a credible measuring system including setting regulations for the legal application of metrology developing standards for measurement and calibration, preparing regulation for weighing and measuring instruments used producers, testing laboratories and the general public.
